मेमोरी मैनेजमेंट:- OS मेमोरी को मैनेज करता है, यह प्राइमरी मेमोरी के बारे में पूरी जानकारी रखता है और देखता है कि मेमोरी का कौन सा हिस्सा किस प्रोग्राम द्वारा उपयोग किया जाता है। जब भी कोई प्रोग्राम अनुरोध करता है, तो वह उसे मेमोरी आवंटित करता है।लागत:- ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम की कीमत उसके फीचर्स के आधार पर तय की जाती है जैसे:- विंडोज़ की कीमत लगभग 100 डॉलर है जबकि डॉस और यूनिक्स ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम फ्री है।उपयोग में आसानी :- इसका उपयोग आसानी से किया जा सकता है क्योंकि इसमें GUI इंटरफ़ेस भी है।
ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम का लाभ
इसे सॉफ्टली इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है क्योंकि इसमें GUI इंटरफेस भी हैं। और नए यूजर इसके जरिए कंप्यूटर को आसानी से चला सकते हैं।इसके जरिए हम एक डाटा को कई यूजर्स के साथ शेयर कर सकते हैं।इसके जरिए हम एक डाटा को कई लोगों के साथ शेयर कर सकते हैं। इसके माध्यम से हम संसाधनों को साझा कर सकते हैं जैसे:- प्रिंटर। मीडिया इन्हें आसानी से अपडेट किया जा सकता है।यह सुरक्षित है जैसे: - विंडोज़ में एक विंडोज़ डिफेंडर होता है जो किसी भी प्रकार की हानिकारक फाइलों का पता लगाता है और उन्हें हटा देता है। ज्ञान के द्वारा हम कोई भी गेम या सॉफ्टवेयर इंस्टाल करके दिखा सकते हैं।कुछ परेटिंग सिस्टम (जैसे:- LINUX) ओपन सोर्स हैं, इन्हें हम अपने कंप्यूटर पर फ्री में चला सकते हैं।
ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम का नुकसान
कुछ ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम फ्री होते हैं लेकिन कुछ महंगे होते हैं जैसे:- विंडोज़ की कीमत लगभग 5000 ₹ से 10000 ₹ तक होती है। विंडोज की तुलना में लिनक्स चलाना थोड़ा अधिक कठिन है।कभी-कभी यह किसी भी हार्डवेयर का समर्थन नहीं करता है,ऐसे में मैक ओएस में वायरस का खतरा ज्यादा होता है।

Whenever a program makes a request, it allocates memory to it.
Cost: - The cost of the operating system is determined on the basis of its features such as: - The cost of windows is around $ 100 while DOS and UNIX operating system is free.Ease of use :- It can be used easily as it also has GUI interface.
Advantage of operating system
